Are there any restrictions on the types of goods that can be imported into Vietnam?

On 23 January 2006, the government issued  Decree 12/2006/ND-CP  detailing certain regulations of the  Commercial Law  regarding international purchases and sales of goods, agency for sales purchase, processing and transit of goods involving foreign parties ( Decree 12 ).  Decree 12 replaced  Decree 57/1998/ND-CP  dated 31 July 98 and its amendment  Decree 44/2001/ND-CP  dated 2 August 2001 of the government. An enterprise that registers to conduct import/export activities is granted a code of import/export in its tax code certificate. Appendix 1 attached to Decree 12 lists goods that are prohibited from being imported.
